The Witch of Hobomock Pass Parental Content Guide

The Witch of Hobomock Pass is intended to be accessible for wide age groups. However, as this is a story about the wild frontier, there is violence and death. Neither blood or gore are described in graphic terms, but are simply presented as a reality.

Some parts of the book may be scary for kids that are sensitive frightening imagery. A mysterious creature in the wood stalks the heroes of the book and, as hinted in the title, there is an underlying spiritual darkness to the story. While there is a light folk horror element, the greater focus is on bravery, heroism, and overcoming these dangers, both physical and spiritual. The titular witch symbolizes the dangers of the frontier and is summarily defeated by the heroes.

A section at the back of the book contains historical notes to explain many of the references and choices made within the story in it's alternate historical setting.
